Public pension fund management is divided in to several parts. The first paper hightlights the need for transperency and accountability in the management of public funds. If public funds do not have the confidence and support of those for whom they are established they are unlikely to succeed; it also points out that public awareness of and interest in the fund is probably the best discipline for such funds, and that transperency and accountablity in themselves can create demand for good overall governance. The second part discusses the implementation of the governance, accountability, and investment policy model adopted by Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Board. Then, it deals with the estabhishment of the national Pension of ireland. The 4th paper discusses the establishment of the new Zealand Superannuation Fund, which was created in part to support the management of Crown finances through future demographic changes. The next issuse discusses the model of governance, accountability, and investment policy adopted by the Norwegian Prtrolium Fund. It also provides some information about the fund and explains about the management model. The next one discusses the generic investment policy process followed by most private and public sector pension plans in the US, Cananda, and the UK. The the next part examines the governance and investment issuues relating to provident and pension funds in Singapore and India. regarding india the distributor describes the 5 components of the pension system and identifies as a key reform issue the question of how to de-link from the fiscal operations of the central and state governments the direct and nonaccountable use of funds generates by the 5 components. Finally, the paper discusses the experience and challenge of supervising the public pension fund in Kenya. Moreover, the countries examines in this book are of all size and at all levels of development. They are all facing the same problem
